About This Role

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated quantum hardware researcher to join a small, high-impact team working on a time-sensitive experimental project involving a leading superconducting quantum processor. The researcher will hold primary responsibility for circuit design, execution, and analysis on the target hardware platform. The project is pre-publication and details will be disclosed in full to shortlisted candidates under NDA.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and optimize quantum circuits for many-body entanglement experiments at qubit counts of 50 to 100

• Apply and evaluate error mitigation strategies including zero-noise extrapolation and readout calibration

• Execute experiments on superconducting quantum hardware and manage hardware access scheduling

• Benchmark results against classical simulation using tensor network methods

• Collaborate with theorists on Hamiltonian design and observable selection

• Contribute to manuscript preparation for high-impact journal submission

Required qualifications

• Ph.D. in quantum physics, quantum information, or a closely related field

• Demonstrated hands-on experience with superconducting quantum hardware — Google, IBM, or equivalent platforms

• Proficiency in quantum circuit design using Qiskit, Cirq, or equivalent SDK

• Working knowledge of quantum error mitigation techniques at circuit depth relevant to NISQ-era and early fault-tolerant hardware

• Experience with variational quantum circuits and/or Trotter-based Hamiltonian simulation

• Ability to perform or supervise classical tensor network benchmarking (MPS/TEBD or equivalent)

• Strong publication record in experimental or hybrid quantum computing

Preferred qualifications

• Prior work in quantum thermodynamics, quantum energy storage, or quantum field simulation

• Familiarity with many-body physics at or near quantum critical points

• Experience with ground state preparation techniques including adiabatic evolution and VQE

What we offer

• Access to state-of-the-art quantum hardware at the frontier of what is publicly available

• Co-authorship on what the team believes will be a landmark publication

• A small, focused team with no bureaucratic overhead and a defined, achievable 16-week project scope

Timeline

The project has a fixed start window tied to an active hardware access application. Applications reviewed on a rolling basis.

Pay: $69,293.84 - $83,450.65 per year

Benefits:

• Flexible schedule
