What You’ll Do
Define & Drive QA Strategy
• Transform QA from a reactive gatekeeper to a proactive, embedded discipline.
• Set the roadmap for automation, shift-left testing, and continuous improvement.
Build & Lead the QA Team
• Mentor and scale the QA function, including in-house QA engineers, offshore/manual resources, and testers specializing in automated frameworks.
• Create a culture of accountability, transparency, and collaboration between QA, Engineering, and Product.
• Build the long-term QA org model, including hiring plans, career paths for QA engineers and SDETs, and performance management.
Champion Automation & Tools
• Lead the rollout of unit, integration, and E2E test frameworks.
• Ensure new features come with corresponding automated test coverage.
Integrate QA into Agile Development
• Embed QA in sprint/kickoff processes—test planning occurs before a line of code is written.
• Partner with Engineering leads to enforce best practices (TDD, CI/CD gates, code reviews with QA steps).
Oversee QA Operations & Standards
• Refine test plans for critical launches, ensuring coverage for both new features and major regressions.
• Own key QA metrics (defect rate, coverage, release confidence) and deliver consistent reporting to leadership.
• Serve as the final authority on release readiness and quality gates across mobile, backend, and hardware.
Post-Release Monitoring & Continuous Feedback
• Collaborate with Engineering & Product on rapid triage, ensuring that real-world issues are quickly identified, prioritized, and addressed.
• Own or coordinate post-mortems and drive structural changes to prevent repeated issues.
Qualifications
• 8+ years in software QA or testing roles in a consumer-focused product, with at least 3+ in a QA leadership capacity.
• Track record implementing and owning test automation at scale (unit through E2E), especially for mobile apps and/or hardware integrations.
• Solid grasp of Agile, CI/CD, TDD/BDD best practices.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills; proven ability to influence org-wide quality culture.
• Comfortable collaborating with product, engineering, and support for a seamless user experience.
• A true passion for golf and desire to get out on the course to test.
• Nice to Have: Experience with IoT, consumer hardware, or sensor-based solutions.
